Braised Country Cabbage

Braised Country Cabbage RecipeIngredients:

1 large head of green cabbage
1/2 lb of diced hickory or applewood smoked bacon
1/2 stick real butter
1/2 large diced onion
1/2 cup water
4 tbs Lawhorn’s Signature Seasoning


  1. Core cabbage and cut the head into 4 quarters
  2. Slice quarters in 1 inch strips and break apart
  3. In a large soup pot, saute the bacon on medium to high heat
  4. Melt the butter and add the onions, saute for about 2 minutes
  5. Add the cabbage and seasoning
  6. Braise the cabbage on medium to high heat from about 2-3 minutes or until it starts to wilt, stirring constantly
  7. Add and stir the water in
  8. Turn down the heat to medium-low, stirring occasionally until cabbage is tender
